Back at Uni

I started back at university yesterday. I occupied my Monday morning by going to work and learning how to use the computer system so as to be able to change prices and print off tickets. Work was followed by my first lecture in Corporate Finance. This went quiet well, however, I had forgotten how mind-numbingly boring it can be sitting in a lecture theatre for two hours. It reminded me of work and the continous need to look at my watch. Then, with enthusiasm, I purchased three of the five text books I needed for all my subjects. I'll leave the other two until I can purchase them second-hand at the book stall sale since they were the only two that were actually used last year (the others being 2007 editions). At first I was a bit worried that I might get behind in my readings if I didn't buy the books straight away. But it is quite fortunate that I have a friend who is still in possession of a functional RMIT University card and therefore was able to borrow the remaining two books from the RMIT library for one and two weeks.

Today I slept in and was awakened by my dad calling me on the phone. It's so good to hear from him. I miss QLD and my dad and sister already. He's planning on going to the beach on the weekend because when I was there and we all went, he felt that the salt water really helped his crippled and pained feet. Poor daddy and his shattered bones :( He just never learns. Always getting into mischief and falling off things. Tsk tsk. Anyway, he couldn't afford to fly me up to go to the beach with him. I guess it may have been asking too much :)

I headed to uni after that and spent two hours in a Torts lecture. It was actually informative and the time didn't drag by so much because I was busy scribbling notes down like a good little school girl.

I have to work tomorrow morning, and will hopefully start reading all about corporate finance and torts. My progress my however be delayed by my obsession with Going Postal. Either way, reading will be done.

My Trip

I arrived back from Queensland on the 16th, and have been working flat out since then, but better a late entry than none at all.

I stayed at my sister's and her fiancee's house for the first half of my trip. I was fortunate enough to drive Chris' car around. It was spanking brand new and had an engine that allowed it to go from 0 to 100 in no time. Although, I'm told that it was pathetic in comparison to his other car which went from 0 to 180 in no time.

Amanda and I drove to "
The Spit" on the second day I was in QLD and laid down on the beach under the blazing sun. After laying there for 10 minutes, Amanda got bored and we trotted into the water. It was so much fun jumping up as the wave came and it would lift us up even higher. I admit, I squealed like a little school girl (with glee). And Amanda even let me have "one" go on the boogie board. She was so generous.

Whilst I stayed at Manda's house we also drove around to some of her mate's place and hung out with them. When Manda had to go to TAFE I dropped her off and took the car to "The Hyperdome". I kept walking up and down the mall but I couldn't find anything I wanted to buy.

The other half of my trip was spent at my dad's house. He is staying with his mate Patrick at the moment so I stayed there too. It was awesome. The house is huge and Patrick own's a horse breeding property so there is hills all around and it was so green and lush.

However, as you can tell from the photos, it wasn't sunny whether for my whole trip. Even so, I managed to go outside when the rain stopped and the sun came out to work on my tan. I did manage to get a tan too. I furthered my tan when Dad took Amanda, Chris and me to Tweed Heads where we all enjoyed frollicking in the waves.

I got to play with the horses whilst I was at Patrick's.

This was my favourite pony.

After I got back from QLD I went to my home town and helped my friend Jodie celebrate her 21st birthday. She had a little too much to drink and was unfortunately unable to go out clubbing afterwards. But I ended up going out with my friends Catherine, Cherise and Brenton and we still managed to have a good time. Poor Jodie.

University starts back on Monday, and I'm looking forward to it. I'll be so busy when it does start back because I'll have three law subjects and one finance subject this semester, and that means a LOT of reading. Uni coupled with work is going to make for one hectic semester.

Queensland

In about 4.5 hours I'll be on the way to Queensland. w00t! My sister is picking me up from the airport and I'll stay at her place tonight. I'm so excited. I'm already all packed and am trying to make the time go quicker...It's not working. Well, I'll report back on my trip when I get back in 10 days.

Until then...

Happy 21st Jess

I'm about to head off to my home town for the weekend to help my friends celebrate Jess' 21st birthday. I just finished compiling her present and am looking forward to giving it to her.

I also just completed The Lion King on SEGA Master System. The game is really short, and therefore didn't feel as repetitive as Wonder Boy. Probably because Wonder Boy had 40 sections all up (every 4th one being the same map) and The Lion King had about 10 sections (all different). It was very refreshing.

Tom-Tom

After finishing Wonder Boy on SEGA today, I found out that Wonder Boy's real name is Tom-Tom. The final showdown of the game was a bit of a let down. It was just the same repetitive axe throwing as the previous 9 bosses. The whole game was too repetitive actually. Thank god for Fusion's ability to save regularly or I wouldn't have had the patience to make it through to the end.
